FAQ
1) Who are the Young Associates?
The YA are a group of young professionals working in or interested in the art industry. As a group it is our mission to showcase emerging trends in the art world, providing a chance to better understand the workings of the industry, and an opportunity to meet people who are passionate about art.
2) Where do the membership dues go?
Membership dues go directly into the museum. These contributions support the museum's work, and they are greatly needed since the museum is a young and growing institution. In return the contributions are tax deductible because of CAM's 501 c status.
3) What do membership dues cover?
They cover invitations to opening receptions of CAM exhibitions, free admission to the museum, a 10% discount at the museum bookstore, invitations to all special events, and admission to all YA events. These YA events are generally gallery talks, studio visits, and private collection/auction house tours.
4) Other museums have groups like this. What is the comparison in membership (price and benefits) to other groups? What makes the YA better than the others?
Museums like the Guggenheim, MOMA, and the Met have membership fees for their young adult groups that average out at about $5000, as opposed to $100. These prices obviously exclude artists, upcoming gallerists and curators, architects, and anyone else actually working in the art industry. The affordable pricing of the YA membership makes it a networking opportunity for young professionals rather than a scene for socialites. Our members are people who are more interested in having stimulating discussion about art than being on the socialite circuit.
