Thaw: Russian Art From Glasnost to the Present
The event features art from two seminal collections of Russian art in exhibitions, titled Moscow - New York = Parallel Play and Thaw: Russian Art From Glasnost to the Present. The first exhibition reflects the major currents of Russian alternative culture and describes the history of independent, or "non-conformist," art processes and movements from the 1960s to the present. The second show depicts a period of slow, gradual but real thaw, a defrost of three quarters of a century's cultural freeze that happened over several decades, culminating in the period of the 1990s known as Glasnost. The event will also feature live DJ performances by Friends with Benefits who will play modern hip hop funk while Gosling Rum serves signature cocktails.
Admission- $15 Suggested donation at the door unless you are a YA member. Open bar and snack food included.
