Multicultural Fusion by Michael Mao Dance Company
April 17 at 8pm and April 18 at 4pm
Multicultural Fusion is a high-energy dance performance that highlights immigrants' contributions to fusion and abstract dance forms by showcasing the multicultural roots of dance in America. The performance begins with short pieces of traditional dances from around the world and ends with an abstract piece that incorporates elements of all the traditional dances. During the performance, multiracial and multiethnic American-born and foreign-born dancers share their personal experiences in their native languages, as well as in English, explaining why they chose to come, and to stay, in New York City. Following the performance, dancers will invite audience members to join them on stage to learn a dance.
CAM will waive admission fees in honor of Immigrant Heritage Week, on April 17, 2008.
On Friday April 18, 2008 tickets for Multicultural Fusion will be free with Museum admission.

Immigrant Heritage Week is a city-wide celebration that honors the experiences and contributions of immigrants in New York City. Established by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2004 and coordinated by the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, Immigrant Heritage Week is a rich collection of free or low-cost programs that build cross-cultural understanding between diverse New Yorkers.
