YOUNG DANCEMAKERS COMPANY
presents
CITY TEENS DANCING AROUND TOWN

Young Dancemakers Company, a unique summer ensemble of 18 city high school teens creating and performing their own work, presents its 13th summer season of free city-wide concerts July 21 to August 3 at various sites city-wide.

In addition to original student choreography, the company will perform an excerpt from Merce Cunningham’s “Field Dances” staged by Mary Lisa Burns of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company.

The one-hour concert, followed by lively improvisational dance-making with the audience on-the-spot, can be enjoyed by children, teens and adults.

The dynamic company, selected by audition each spring, is drawn from throughout urban New York City. The young artists are led by founding director Alice Teirstein, with assistant director Jessica Gaynor and music director William Catanzaro.

The company work has been termed “a jewel” by Jennifer Dunning and hailed in the New York Times, Dancer Magazine, and the Village Voice. For more information, visit the company website: www.ecfs.org/ydc.asp

The company and its free concerts are made possible by the support of the Richenthal Foundation, the Kornfeld Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, Jody and John Arnhold, and the NY Times Company Foundation.

The performance is free with museum admission. $8 general, $4 student/ seniors, free for members.
